The company's history began in 1962 with a meeting between Cesare Cassina, Arturo Eisenkeil and designer Dino Gavina. At this point, Eisenkeil, an inventor and small manufacturer from Merano, became fascinated by the cocoon technique.
Synthetic resin was sprayed onto a metal frame, resulting in light and airy lighting fixtures.
Continuing its development path, the company meets and cooperates fruitfully with the best designers. One of them is Philippe Starck, who creates legendary lamps that have now become an icon of any design solution. Here are some of them: table lamp from the Archimoon collection (1998), Romeo (2003), Miss Sissi - a series of multi-colored table lamps - an homage to pop art, Guns Collection (2005)....
Each designer has a special world and his own aesthetics. Thus, the Dutch magician Marcel Wanders in his Skygarden lamp (2007), decorated with plaster relief on the inside, creates the image of a wonderful Garden of Eden.
In 2005, the company acquired the Spanish factory Antares, from which point the development of the architectural line began - Flos Architectural. Numerous lighting projects are underway for hotels, museums and other public buildings. Each new work is not only the embodiment of design courage, but also the innovation of the factory.
Today, Flos creates to meet all specific requirements, covering options such as: cultural and public spaces, work and living spaces, collaborating with architects at the design stage or developing a retail network.
With offices on every continent, Flos' global network operates in more than 100 countries, providing comprehensive assistance, support and customized solutions.
From traditional processes such as glass blowing to the most advanced technologies and component customization.
Today, Flos creates to meet all specific requirements, covering options such as: cultural and public spaces, work and living spaces, collaborating with architects at the design stage or developing a retail network.
One of the new approaches to retail design was the opening of an amazing place - D Studio. It is a place to meet, collaborate and connect with the best representatives of modern design culture, a natural place for design lovers and professionals.
Overall Design Excellence - D Studio Copenhagen's combined 1,760m2 space will allow visitors to experience the wealth of experiences these distinctive and exclusive brands have to offer. From B&B Italia, the epitome of modern design with history, to the Maxalto lifestyle collection, based on craftsmanship and timeless elegance, to Arclinea, synonymous with highly developed custom-made kitchens; to the visionary Italian lighting manufacturer Flos with its masterful, poetic designs and forward-thinking solutions, and last but not least Louis Poulsen, the iconic Danish lighting brand with its unique heritage in design.
“The names of Flos products are never just arbitrary: on the contrary, they reveal the underlying concept of their design. That's why Local Connection focuses on the names of each item on display, expanding on their meaning. The names Light Shadow, Super Line, Camera, Oblique and so on themselves turn into objects illuminated by the very lights to which they refer.
It will not escape the visitor that this is a fun reference to the entire genre of modern art, which works with the iconographic and onomatopoeic power of words, starting with Robert Indiana's famous work "LOVE", which became a Manhattan landmark, and extending to many other contemporary artists who are also fascinated by the expressive by the power of words.
Over the past almost 70 years, the Italian company has grown into a real lighting empire. Flos has a firmly established reputation as an “innovative” brand offering the most advanced lighting solutions.
On the MyArredo website you can find, request and order any of the selected masterpieces from Flos, or send a project that can be developed specifically for you, taking into account all the nuances and requirements.
